Two charged after teenager stabbed in Ballynahinch

Two people have been charged with a number of offences after a teenage boy was stabbed in Ballynahinch on Saturday night.

Police said they received a report of the incident in the Lough Park area at about 19:25 GMT.

Detectives said it was reported that a man and woman approached a group of young people and the man stabbed the boy in the abdomen and assaulted him.

A teenage girl was also punched in the face during the incident.

The boy was taken to hospital for treatment for serious injuries, which are not believed to be life-threatening.

A man and a woman, who are both 20, were arrested a short time later.

They have both been charged with grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of an offensive weapon with intent to commit an indictable offence.

The man has been further charged with attempted grievous bodily harm with intent and common assault.

Both suspects are expected to appear before Lisburn Magistrates' Court on Monday.
