A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman pushing her baby in a pram in Bradford was stabbed to death.

Habibur Masum was detained on Tuesday morning in connection with the death of 27-year-old Kulsuma Akter from Oldham.

West Yorkshire detectives said they had arrested the 25-year-old, from Oldham, in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire.

Ms Akter died on Saturday after the attack. Her baby was unharmed.

Det Ch Insp Stacey Atkinson, of West Yorkshire Police's Homicide and Enquiry Team, said the arrest followed a "tragic incident in which a mother has lost her life in the most horrific of circumstances".

"We understand that this has caused a considerable amount of concern in the local community.

"Local Neighbourhood Policing teams are patrolling the area conducting reassurance to the community.

"We would like to thank Thames Valley Police for their support and assistance in this matter," she added.

On Monday, police said they had arrested a 23-year-old man in Cheshire on suspicion of assisting an offender.
